We have these really neat stainless steel flasks that are wrapped in Italian leather. We have the funnels for filling these flasks as well. Plus, we have received a new shipment of reading glasses that come in Italian leather cases. Check them out!
|These 6 oz. flasks range in price: Glittery Hot Purple ($26.95) • Pink leather ($37.95) • Black & Brown Leather ($39.95). The tall 10 oz. flasks in Black, Pink and Stingray leather come with two shot glasses ($39.95)|
|These reading glasses, in a full range of magnification, are only $15.95 including the Italian leather case.|
Great gifts. Just add a special beverage for the flasks (make mine Courvoisier), or a favorite book with the readers.

Here's my latest installment in this irregularly posted series. Sue Stewart was a young girl who grew up in Juneau, Alaska, and later attended Stanford University. This little torn sheet was found in here Juneau High School scrap book, so it dates from the late 1930s. Poor Allan ... I wonder what happened to the second pie?

The Town of Los Gatos celebrates its 125th birthday today! The town was officially incorporated in 1887. Over these many years, Los Gatos has evolved from a rugged mountainside farming community, to a stop along the highway and railroad to Santa Cruz, to the gorgeous, hillside town it is today. Unfortunately, the orchards that created the Valley of Hearts Delight in the first half of the 1900s are gone. So is the railroad that served the west valley communities, connecting them to San Jose on one end and Santa Cruz on the other. But we love our town just the way it is.
The building where Vintages is located was the original home of Swanson Ford back in 1920s through the 1950s. It later housed a boat seller showroom and the Noodle Palace, a Chinese restaurant, in the 1980s. We have been here in this location since 2003.
The Swanson Ford building is shown below in parade photos from 1949 and 1956.

For history buffs, and anyone who loves old photos, check out this photo slideshow about the 125 years of Los Gatos. The Town is holding several birthday parties tonight at local parks -- Bachman, Belgatos, Blossom Hill, La Rinconada, and Live Oak Manor. The festivities are from 6 to 8 pm.
And don't forget the Fiesta de Artes on the Los Gatos Civic Center grounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Susan's newest creations are these marvelous pendants made from vintage pocket watch faces and buckles decorated with old buttons, vintage jewelry pieces, old lace and solder glass charms. These fit perfectly with today's trends in steampunk and industrial chic design. Susan has given these a uniquely Vintages look, using vintage and handmade pieces from our inventory.

Registration is now open for our Fall Jewelry Class. This class will focus on Collecting Vintage Jewelry. It will be held on Tuesday nights, October 9th through November 6th. Set aside the dates, sign-up and plan to join us.
Jewelry from the past continues to be both a hot collectible and a brilliant fashion statement. Modern costume jewelry just does not have the special beauty of pieces from the mid-20th century. Vintage jewels are like miniature works of art, some classic, some flashy and all of it enduring.
The class will cover the history, designs and fashions of jewelry from as early as the Egyptians and up to modern trends. In each class session we will discuss a different time frame, looking into what was behind the designs, who the leading jewelers were and what makes the best “the best.” Classes will also cover topics to help give you an understanding of fashions and materials, as well as a basis to be able to decipher the age and maker of jewelry. We will bring some samples of collectible vintage jewelry into class (you are encouraged to bring in your own examples as well) and we will also view examples of the works of the important designers and artists who have created the masterworks. Each class will end with a chance for all attendees to share their own jewelry collections.
